This is a loop modification of Roux–En–Y Gastric Bypass surgery where a loop of intestine is attached to long, narrow pouch of stomach.
Mini Anastamosis Gastric Bypass (MGB) or One Anastamosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB) promotes weight loss by limiting the amount of food that the body can consume thus lowering the patient’s appetite and reducing the amount of calories absorbed by the body. Mini gastric bypass surgery (MGBP) makes the stomach smaller and reroutes the intestines. Compared to the more widely performed Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure mini gastric bypass surgery studies show similar weight loss and health improvement, a lower risk of complications, and fewer and less severe side effects. This also causes hormonal changes in the body and brings about resolution or improvement in co-morbid conditions.
